UNIDO ITPO Italy organized a webinar to foster the dairy and livestock sectors in Pakistan
Rome, 22 June 2020 – UNIDO ITPO Italy, in collaboration with the Pakistani Embassy in Rome and the Small and Medium Enterprises Development Authority (SMEDA), organized the “Webinar on Dairy and Livestock Sectors of Pakistan” on 22 June 2020 with the goal of highlighting business opportunities and investments by Italian SMEs aimed at enhancing the Pakistani dairy and livestock industry.
Agreements
Scientific cooperation between Italy and Pakistan is pursued within the framework on the Agreement of Cultural, Scientific and Technological Cooperation (10 November 2005) and the Executive Programme on Cultural, Scientific and Technological Cooperation 2006-2008 (4 November 2006).
Inter-university cooperation
MoU between the University of Bologna and COMSATS Institute of Information Technology (20.9.2005) - Bilateral cooperation in offering joint degree programs in mutually agreed disciplines.
MoU between the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research of Italy (MIUR) and the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (7.3.2006) - Bilateral scientific and technological cooperation activities targeted toward technological innovation and industrial applications in: material science and metallurgy, plasma physics, applied mathematics and information sciences, grid technologies, neuro-informatics, disaster prevention, technologies for cultural heritage, agro and food technologies.
MoU between the Ministry of Education, Universities and Research of Italy (MIUR) and the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan (7.3.2006) - Scientific and technological cooperation in disaster prevention and the mitigation of seismic risk involving universities and research centres; expresses support for the Cooperation Agreement between between the European Centre for Training and Research in Earthquake Engineering (EUCENTRE, Pavia) and the Earthquake Engineering Centre, NWFP University of Engineering and Technology in Peshawar(7.3.2006) in Advanced Education and Research in the field of Earthquake Engineering, Engineering Seismology and Disaster Managemant
Research and Cooperation Projects (June 2006) between the University of Trieste, the Friuli Venezia Giulia Region, Bahria University, Azad Jammu and Kashmir Universty (AJKU) - for the construction of a Geomatics Laboratory at the Azad Jammu and Kashmir University (AJKU) for the Management of Hydro-Geologic and Seismic Risk as support for the reconstruction of AJKU hit by the October 2005 earthquake.
University of Engineering, Science and Technology Pakistan (UESTP)
Declaration of Intent between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Italy and the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan in matters of Scientific and University cooperation (4.11.2006) - to foster the collaboration between a consortium of top Italian Universities led by the Politecnico di Torino for the establishment of the new UESTP in Karachi. Italy will assist with the setting up of UESTP by providing technical, administrative and accademic expertise.
Archeology
There are currently two major projects in this field: in the Swat area by IsIAO (since 1956) and in the the hills of Ongar and Daphro by the University "Ca' Foscari" of Venice. Both organizations are suppoted by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Italy.
EV-K2-CNR
EV-K2-CNR is an independent, private, non-profit association, supported by the Ministry for Foreign Affairs of Italy, for the promotion and development of technological and scientific research in the Hindu Kush-Karakorum-Himalaya. EV-K2-CNR is one of the main partners of the Government of Pakistan for the establishment and the management of the Central Karakorum National Park.
