Please note that Pakistan has acceded to the Hague Convention of October 5, 1961, abolishing the requirement of legalization for foreign public documents. Consequently, the requirement to legalize Pakistani public documents and deeds has been replaced by another formality: the affixing of an “apostille.” The affixing of an apostille must be requested from the competent local authorities designated by the country in question (https://apostille.mofa.gov.pk/ ).
To be valid in Italy, a Pakistani public document must also be translated into Italian and stamped “per traduzione conforme.” This translation can be performed by an official translator in Italy or can be requested to this Embassy when submitting the visa application or, by appointment, by email at consolare.islamabad@esteri.it .
