The third biannual meeting of the Steering Committee of the Scale-Up Olive Culture project was held in Islamabad. This three-year initiative is funded by the Italian Agency for Development Cooperation (AICS) and implemented by CIHEAM Bari.
Italian Ambassador Marilina Armellin and Secretary Musaddiq Tahir-kheli highlighted the transformative progress made in the sector. At the meeting, representatives from the Ministry announced that the National Olive Value Chain Policy would be approved shortly, ensuring the necessary coordination to consolidate the sector.
Key achievements include the full operational readiness of certified plant health laboratories and the training of over 300 beneficiaries in resilient agricultural techniques. Thanks to the introduction of nursery standards and DNA validation, the ‘PakOlive’ brand has established itself as a symbol of quality and integrity.
The initiative confirms the joint commitment of Italy and Pakistan to inclusive economic growth and long-term environmental sustainability.
